The shooting took place around 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Walmart located at 21150 Kuykendahl Road next to FM-2920.
Members of Parliament were reportedly called to the store in reference to a suspicious vehicle.
Walmart employees reportedly recognized the three shoplifting suspects because they had previously stolen them. Officials say the vehicle fits the description of a vehicle involved in previous thefts from another Walmart.
The suspects entered Walmart and stole items before returning to their cars outside, employees said.
When two assistant police officers from Station 4 intervened at the scene, they ordered the suspects to get out of the vehicle.
That’s when they say one of the suspects got out of the car and fired a handgun at MPs several times.
The two deputies involved both fired back, hitting and killing the armed suspect.
“We recovered a gun. We believe the suspect shot the deputies several times before they opened fire,” said the staff member. Jason Brown said. “All I can tell you at the moment is that he is an adult male. Other than that, we do not release any information about the suspect until the next of kin is notified.”

The other two suspects in the vehicle fled the scene during the shooting but were later arrested, MPs said.
They allegedly cooperated with the investigation and provided statements about what had happened. They were not injured in the shooting.
The two deputies involved in the shooting were not injured.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit and the District Attorney’s Office are investigating the fatal shooting.
“The training of our assistants helped them in this shooting and we are thankful to God for watching over them,” said Constable Mark Herman. “MPs will be placed on mandatory three-day leave while the investigation is being conducted.”
