Florida pastor pleads with his parishioners to get vaccinated – after six church members recently died from COVID-19 within 10 days.
“Four of them were under 35 years old. All were healthy and the only thing they had in common was that they weren’t vaccinated,” the senior pastor of the WJXT-TV told WJXT-TV. Impact Church, George Davis.
One of the victims was a recently married woman and mother of a young daughter, he added to WFLA-TV.
“It definitely took a toll on us,” Davis said of the deaths. “A part of [the victims] have been extremely close to us. And look at some of these people in their prime.
Hoping to get unvaccinated parishioners to get vaccinated, the church in Arlington, Fla., Set up a vaccination clinic on Sunday to encourage vaccinations.
Davis said he pushed parishioners to get vaccinated to counter misinformation – but many resisted his calls.
“It’s very frustrating knowing these were preventable deaths,” Davis told the Washington Post.
“You also don’t want loved ones who are left behind to feel horrible and want to seem like they blame them, but the reality is that I know these people would still be there if they had had the shoot.”
Davis told the outlet that he believed the vaccine was a divine gift.
“The miracle is nonetheless a miracle if medical science has to step in to finish it,” he told the newspaper.
“For me it’s a bit of a turning point, because I saw God do it without medical help to a point, and then finish it with medical help. And that’s what I [see] in this virus too.
