Netflix’s Next Tim Burton Addams Family drama series Wednesday found his Morticia.

Catherine Zeta-Jones has been cast as guest guest and matriarch in director Burton’s eight-part series and showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville, in the badlands).

Wednesday is described as a detective and supernatural mystery retracing Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday attempts to harness his emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that terrorized the local town, and unravel the supernatural mystery that implicated his parents 25 years ago – all while navigating his new and much-tangled relationships in Nevermore.

Yes day and You Graduate Jenna Ortega will play Wednesday’s role in the live-action series. Luis Guzman (Shameless) was recently chosen to play Gomez, the patriarch of the Addams family.

Zeta-Jones just came out of an arc in Fox’s Prodigal son and count the features Chicago, Traffic and The Twelve of the Ocean among his credits. It is replaced by UTA.

Burton will direct and produce Wednesday. Gough and Millar will produce alongside Andrew Mittman (The Addams family, the Alphas), Kevin Miserocchi (Tee and Charles Addams Foundation), Kayla Alpert (Code Black, up all night), Jonathan Glickman for Glickmania (Addams Family 2) and Gail Berman (The Addams family, the Alphas). The series originates from MGM / UA Television.
