The Red Dead Online player takes it upon himself to track down all players playing a role as members of the KKK to put an end to their racist activities.
Red Dead OnlineRockstar Games’ beloved online RPG based in the world of Red Dead Redemption, allows players to take on the role of all kinds of characters and travel the wild and lawless west. Unfortunately, many players have used this feature to harass other players online while playing a role as KKK members, and one player has taken it upon themselves to fix the issue.
As reported by GameRant, this player has gone viral on TikTok for enacting self-defense justice against klansmen imitators, taking up arms “to kill them outright or for letting the players they harass get away.” The player’s most recent effort posted on his TikTok, captioned “chasing racist gamers in Red Dead Online part 16, “involves them sneaking into a meeting of the KKK role players. The player sends nine supporters with an explosive bow before stabbing their leader in the resulting chaos, while remixing the BARRXN trap from Tennessee Ernie Ford Dixie Union plays in the background.
The video, with a title that says “stay dead”, reached nearly 30,000 likes and ends with the promise of Part 17. Previous videos of the self-defense player, posted on the TikTok channel “@umbrellaboy”, show the player murdering klansmen players all over the world online before freeing the kidnapped players and NPCs.
The presence of KKK gamers in Red Dead Online has been a constant problem that does not yet have a permanent solution. Rockstar Games has taken action by removing KKK NPCs and banning all hackers who attempt to summon them, but so far these fixes have been temporary at best. Yet even with widespread harassment by the racist gamers in question, players have found ways to level the playing field.
While there have been comments online claiming that @umbrellaboy’s videos are staged – mostly because of how easily they seem to be able to find and send racist gamers – the answer to the fact watching online klan members ambushed was overwhelmingly positive. In addition, the message against the racist actions of the players of Red Dead Online garnered wide support and attention from the community.
Following the release of @umbrellaboy’s 16th vigilante video, they also released a video thanking their viewers for helping them reach 100,000 subscribers with a caption that promises “more hunts when they stop hiding”.
Red Dead Online is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia.
