Bear in Grocery Store – NBC 7 San Diego

Imagine walking into your Ralphs neighborhood to do your daily groceries and meet a four-legged friend in the honey alley.

Residents of Porter Ranch, a suburb of Los Angeles, were surprised Saturday morning when they saw a 125-pounder. male bear walking down the aisles of a Ralphs grocery store.

The bear was spotted inside the store around 6:30 a.m. or 7 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department – Devonshire Station.

The LAPD said there were possibly three bear sightings in the area, but only one was seen inside the Ralphs.

The bear was chased outside to the back of a nearby Walmart building, where officers were waiting for the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

Once there, the bear was given a tranquilizer. He was then tagged and taken to suitable habitat, according to Tim Badley of the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

No injuries were reported.
