‘Karen’ called for approaching black neighbor over ‘Tigger’ flag: ‘We have rules’

A TikToker was briefly banned by the platform for posting a video of the meeting

Another “Karen” went viral for harassing a black person and this time the woman’s fury was over her neighbor’s Tigger flag.

TikToker Ambrosia claims she was banned from the platform after sharing a video of a white woman complaining about a flag hanging from her house that featured Winnie the Pooh character Tigger. The flag hung next to one of the American flags.

Ambrosia shared security camera footage of her altercation with the unidentified woman she dubbed another “Karen.” Like leGRIO previously reported, while the official origins of Karen’s name used as a pejorative are unclear, popular speculation is that it was popularized due to a joke from the stand-up comedian Danish cook in 2005.

Ambrosia’s video shows the woman knocking on her front door and announcing that she doesn’t like the cartoon character’s flag.

“I want to talk about this Tigger flag,” the woman said, as reported by The sun. “I do not like it.”

‘Karen’ said the American flag was “really nice” but the Tigger flag – not so much.

“And we have rules,” the woman continued. “I don’t want to have to search for what they are, but I don’t like it.”

The woman sued on “rules for the community,” Ambrosia noting that their neighborhood does not have a homeowners association.

“I’m just saying I don’t like it. It makes it look cheesy – it makes the neighborhood feel cheesy. “

Ambrosia replied: “It is not [look tacky], but that’s okay, ”she said. “You have the right to give your opinion. “

“Karen” eventually left, but not before she said she was going to “find out” about these rules.

Ambrosia then posted a flag tracking video showing Tigger picking daisies and said she was briefly banned from TikTok for posting it.

“I appealed and they put it back on, but apparently you all get mad,” she said.

In recent years, the “Karens gone wild” cases have made headlines, with white women across the country being given the nickname for racist antics – big and small.

It now appears that the social justice implications of the name have caused parents to shy away from it, leGrio reported.

According to The HuffPost, new data from the Social Security Administration suggests that “Karen” fell out of favor with new parents in 2020, ranking 831st in popularity in the United States for female given names last year. This is the lowest ranking the previously popular “Karen” has ever had on the list since 1932.

“It is generally used as a derogatory for middle-aged white women,” explained Matt Schimkowitz, an editor at Know your meme, said an online memes encyclopedia.

“It’s almost like they have a right, where they sort of dominate their privilege over another.”

Only 439 babies were named Karen in 2019 and in 2020 that number dropped to 325. This is in stark contrast to 1965, when Karen was in her prime, with almost 33,000 bearing that name.
