The New York Attorney General’s investigation into the sexual harassment allegations against Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo found that Cuomo sexually harassed several women, Attorney General Letitia James announced last week.

According to James, the investigation found that Cuomo harassed current and former state employees, as well as a number of women outside of state government.

However, Cuomo has since denied the claims.

“I want you to know directly from me that I have never touched anyone inappropriately or made inappropriate sexual advances,” he said.

As a result of the investigation, Cuomo came under enormous pressure to resign from several politicians, including President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Likewise, New York lawmakers on both sides have condemned Cuomo’s conduct and are considering whether further action should be taken against the governor.

Additionally, sources told CNN that Cuomo’s closest confidants spent the weekend trying to convince him to step down, but Cuomo remained firm in his denial of the allegations. A source said Cuomo “thinks he can wait.”

Several people close to Cuomo said the governor was “in the mood for a fight” this weekend, according to Reverend Al Sharpton, a civil rights activist who has long been involved in New York politics. However, many people close to the governor are preparing for the end of the governor’s term.

Meanwhile, a New York state impeachment investigation into various misconduct allegations against Cuomo is nearing completion, according to a letter obtained by CNN.

Lawyers working for the New York State Assembly Judiciary Committee impeachment inquiry have informed Cuomo’s attorneys that “the committee’s investigation is nearing completion and the Assembly will consider shortly possible articles of indictment against your client “.

Committee lawyers have invited Cuomo to submit additional evidence or written submissions to the committee by August 13.

“Assuming the commission’s investigation is very similar to the attorney general’s findings, it would be hard to imagine that sexual harassment would not be a basis for impeaching this governor,” said Democratic MP Phil Steck, a member of the judicial commission. CNN.

Steck added that the committee may consider additional impeachment charges.

“I hope and believe that we will be done from the point of view of the Judicial Commission in early September,” he said.

Amid calls for resignation and the ongoing impeachment inquiry, Cuomo’s attorney Rita Glavin will hold a virtual briefing at 11 a.m. ET today, according to the governor’s public calendar.
