How should Chelsea face Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup?

[ad_1]

Chelsea are back almost at full speed, on the eve of UEFA’s flagship match between the winners of their two major competitions. Champions League winners Chelsea face Villarreal, who beat Manchester United in the Europa League final (after a long and quite spectacular shootout).

These kinds of games always raise the question of how much value we should place on a “competition” that is literally just a game, for which teams qualify by winning much more prestigious trophies. But while for the fans it only makes sense if we win, for the players it is of course another brilliant trophy to collect. Catch them all!

That said, with much of the first team only recently returning from summer vacation (thanks to their involvement in Euro 2020 and Copa América), this game could come a bit too early for them – c is if we look at it as an exit from competition. On the other hand, if we think of it primarily as a fitness exercise, then maybe this is timely. We also have our first Premier League game in just four days (Saturday), so some interesting decisions will have to be made.

Choose wisely!
