Ahead of what we plan to be a Samsung packed Galaxy Unpacked event On Wednesday, OnePlus took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce that it had also scheduled a surprise event for August 1. 11 a.m. to 10 a.m. AND. What a coincidence! And the overlap didn’t end there: On Tuesday, OnePlus also leaked a teaser image for what appears to be some sort of dual-screen device that looks suspiciously like the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.

Are these two smartphones crashed together? Does it bend? Is it a black band in the middle of these double screens? From this teaser alone, it’s impossible to say for sure.

Or maybe the new product isn’t a device at all but just an accessory, something akin to the optional second display that you can purchase separately, as we’ve seen with the LG Velvet.

Either way, it certainly seems fair to assume that this little twist was crafted with the explicit intention of stealing the show from Samsung – a level of pettiness that we can relate to, but just can’t live with.

Thunder stolen or not, Samsung’s event is still set to deliver a few bangers, with the expected reveal of the company’s Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch series, the Galaxy Buds 2, and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. now strangely familiar. Foldable smartphones have already generated a ton of hype, especially as Samsung revealed in a blog post that they would kick off the whole event. Like Gizmodo Previously reported, the Z Flip folds up like the flip phones of yore, and the Z Fold opens outward, like a book.

To find out what’s in store for the two companies, be ready at 10:00 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT tomorrow for the previews of the duel. If only there was a way to stream both events on the same device, but on separate screens …
