Hackers have perpetrated what is arguably the biggest theft ever in the world of decentralized finance, stealing around $ 600 million worth of cryptocurrency from a protocol known as PolyNetwork that allows users to exchange tokens on multiple blockchains.
Tens of thousands of people are affected by hacking, PolyNetwork said in a letter posted on Twitter. About $ 33 million from the Tether stablecoin that was part of the theft was frozen by Tether’s emitter, making it unavailable to the attacker.
