The Philadelphia 76ers will need to be patient in their trade talks for All-Star Ben Simmons, 25, as they have big plans in mind – i.e. Damian Lillard – but if they can’t land Lillard , there will have to be a backup schedule.
While Philadelphia would likely host the young star for the 2021-22 season, some believe Simmons does not want to return to the Sixers. In this case, there will have to be some type of movement to keep everyone happy.
In a new business suggestion released by Bleacher Report, the Sixers send Simmons to the Sacramento Kings in a three-team deal also involving the San Antonio Spurs. The deal would send Simmons to the Kings, Sacramento would then send Buddy Hield and two first-round picks in 2022 and 2025 to Philadelphia while sending Marvin Bagley III and Davion Mitchell to San Antonio, Spurs would send Derrick White and a trade pick to Sacramento.

The Sixers will want more value from Simmons. That’s a tough question right now, following his swooning attack in the conference semifinals and given his apparent distaste for staying put.
Hield would open up the offense down the half court considerably, and Derrick White is a pesky winger defender who can watch and absorb reps at any given time. The Kings wouldn’t present themselves as contenders with Simmons alone, so those extra first two rounds may create more business opportunities for the Sixers. The 2025 pick also untangles them from the strain of the Stepien rule they find themselves in with their 2025 draft obligation to Oklahoma City.
The Kings would do well to acquire Simmons as there is increasing pressure within the Sacramento organization to win. This is where the Sixers will have to decide if the Kings have enough to make a deal on their side.
On paper, this isn’t a deal the Sixers should take. They have their eyes on Lillard and while a lot is going on with Simmons, it would be more beneficial for Philadelphia to try and mend the relationship and bring him back rather than trading him for pennies on the dollar.
