The San Francisco Giants’ paddock carousel continues to spin in circles. Ahead of their series opener Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Giants picked right-hander John Brebbia at AAA Sacramento and called up right-hander Camilo Doval.

Doval, who is 24, made his MLB debut earlier this year. He was absolutely electric, but not particularly good either. In 10.2 innings, he struck out 13 batters but also allowed 11 hits (including 4 home runs), 6 walks and 9 earned runs. He hasn’t been much better in AAA, where he has a 5.33 ERA and 1.78 WHIP, but he’s been better lately as he hasn’t allowed any of his four points. last appearances, nor to seven of his last eight. He also recently made some highlights by throwing a fastball that hit 104.5 mph.

Brebbia has struggled this year as well, with a 6.60 ERA, 4.43 FIP and 1.53 WHIP, although his 16 strikeouts in 2 walks in 15 innings are of course enjoyable. .

Also of note on the front of the list: Evan Longoria is set to return. Longoria played four rehab games with AAA Sacramento, but is now back in San Francisco with the team. It looks like it will be activated soon.

The Giants will need to free up space not only on the active roster, but also on the 40-player roster when Longoria is activated.
