George Kittle can forgive, but he never forgets.
Trey Lance underestimated the speed of the 49ers All Pro on a through pass during training camp and Kittle is yet to let go. General choice # 3 might never live it. However, it’s still a lot of fun with the tight end.
Overall, Kittle was impressed with the rookie signalman who showed his maturity in the locker room and on the pitch. But until the two connect on a road or deep post, expect Lance’s sarcastic punches to continue.
“He’s 21, that’s what it is,” Kittle said with a laugh. “He’ll hopefully learn at some point and kick the ball over there. ”
Kittle has noticed the rookie shift’s work ethic and appreciates his diligence. Lance has also quickly integrated into a tight-knit locker room since Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch arrived in Santa Clara.
“He’s very professional every day,” Kittle said. ” He likes that. I like being around people who love what they do, who love what they do. You can tell by the time and effort he puts into it – if he’s in the workout room, at his locker looking at his iPad, he’s always doing something. He never wastes time and I appreciate him.
Kittle, who entered the league at 23, may mock the rookie’s age, but also acknowledges the challenges it presents. Regardless of the age difference, the tight end took reps with the second team and the two developed chemistry on the pitch.

The tight end is also one of the regular “receivers” during quarterback warm-ups.
“Trey is awesome,” Kittle said. “He has a great personality, he has a lot of energy. It has a great atmosphere. He’s definitely a 21-year-old. I connect with him well now, and I think we would have been best friends if I was 21.
“He definitely has a much straighter head than I did when I was 21, and I know I wouldn’t be in the NFL at 21, so kudos to him.”
