Nintendo’s newest Indie World Showcase was packed with lots of cool games, as usual. But the best part is that a lot of them are out today.
Including Axiom Verge 2 (a sequel to a Metroid-like adventure from 2015), Friends dungeon (a hack-and-slash game where you can romanticize your weapons), Necrobarista: Final For (the director’s cup of a visual novel about coffee and death), Islanders (a procedurally generated strategy game where players build island communities), Slime Breeder (where players run an alien ranch), Curious Expedition 2 (described as “a turn-based narrative roguelike in a reimagined late 19th century version”), and Garden story (a Zelda-like an action-adventure game where you play as an adorable grape).
Aside from the games releasing today, the event also included a number of titles launching later this year and next. Here’s everything that was announced:
Tetris effect
The cool, musical version of Tetris finally gets a portable edition. Tetris effect Originally debuted on the PS4 before moving on to platforms like the Xbox and Oculus Quest, and the Switch Edition includes both the single-player campaign and the newer “Connected” multiplayer component. It will launch on October 8.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
A Radio Jet Set-style game on grinding and graffiti. It will arrive on the Switch as a “Timed Console Exclusive” in 2022. (It will also arrive on other platforms, including Steam.)
to the east

Toem
A game that consists of taking photos in a beautiful black and white world. Developers describe Toem As an experience on “talking to quirky characters and solving their problems by taking neat photos, you can make your way through a variety of different and relaxing regions inspired by the Scandinavian countryside”. Toem arrives on the Switch this fall.
Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon
Side scrolling Knight Shovel the series expands with a spin-off that mixes dungeon exploration and puzzle solving. The game was first announced last year and the Switch version will be released this winter.
Metal Slug Tactics

Loop hero
The captivating roguelike Loop hero launched earlier this year, and you’ll soon be able to play it on the go. The big problem is that instead of controlling the hero directly, you are building the world around him. It will be on Switch this winter.
Far away: changing tides
Meditative adventure game Far: Lone Sails has an upcoming sequel (the developers say you don’t have to play the original to understand) where once again players will assemble their own ship in order to explore a flooded world. Changing tides should be launched next year.
