Xiaomi accidentally discloses the specifications of the Redmi 10
The phone is supposed to be unveiled this Wednesday, August 18, and everything related to the handset will then be revealed. But why should you wait? According to Xiaomi itself, the Redmi 10 will sport a 6.5-inch display with FHD + resolution and a variable refresh rate of 90Hz. By changing the refresh rate according to the content displayed on the screen, the battery of the phone gets a break from time to time.

Updating a handset’s screen every 90 seconds can seriously reduce its battery life. But by lowering the refresh rate when on-screen content is static (when emails and texts are displayed, for example) and increasing it to make scrolling and animations smooth, users should take full advantage of the 5000 mAh battery that powers the phone. While the battery supports 18W fast charging, the Redmi 10 will come with a 22.5W charger.
The phone will have MediaTek’s new Helio G88 SoC under the hood with 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage. A quad-camera setup graces the back of the phone and includes a 50 MP main camera, 8 MP ultra-wide camera, 2 MP macro for close-ups, and a 2 MP depth sensor. There’s also an 8MP selfie snapper on the front that appears as a cutout centered on the screen.
The device comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 comes pre-installed out of the box. The only thing Xiaomi didn’t share was the price of the new phone. It has a premium look compared to the previous model and everything Xiaomi hasn’t talked about should be revealed by them next week.
Xiaomi has managed to become the world’s leading smartphone maker, at least for now, thanks to its value for money which has made the brand a huge seller in India. Its global growth soared in the second quarter of 2021 to 53 million units shipped from 26 million in the same quarter last year. And Xiaomi managed to win the crown for the period from April to June even though it does not sell its handsets in the third largest market in the world, the United States.
During the quarter, Xiaomi was responsible for 17.1% of handsets shipped globally, while Samsung and Apple’s market shares were 15.7% and 14.3% respectively.
