Oscar nominated actress Debra Winger left the 1992 film “A League of Their Own” because Madonna was cast in the female baseball comedy-drama.
According to the Telegraph, Winger was playing the role of Dottie, which was eventually taken over by Geena Davis.
Serious actress Winger even trained with the Chicago Cubs for three months, but when director Penny Marshall picked Madonna, Winger sensed Marshall was fluffing – “an Elvis movie.”

Winger, most famous for his roles in “An Officer and a Gentleman” and “Terms of Affection”, also spoke of leaving Hollywood in 1995.
“I quit because I quit being challenged,” she said, adding that playing the supportive wife and mother was “pretty boring.”
