Live Nation will require COVID-19 vaccination or negative test

Live Nation, one of the largest live entertainment companies in North America, updated itCOVID-19 policy, now requiring participants, performers and crew members at one of their organized festivals or concerts must provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test after October 4. The company’s previous policy allowed artists to decide whether vaccinations would be required to attend their shows. All Live Nation employees must also be vaccinated by October 4 to attend any of the company’s sites or events, or visit any of its offices.

“Vaccines are going to be your ticket back to the shows,” President of Live Nation and CEO Michael Rapino said in a statement to Rolling stone. “From October 4, we will follow the model we developed for Lollapalooza and demand it for artists, fans and employees of Live Nation venues and festivals wherever possible in the United States.”

Live Nation presents music festivals including: Governors Ball, Austin City Limits Music Festival, Bonnaroo and Rolling Loud California. The company clarified that the policy will only be applied in states where permitted by law (we look at you, texas and the city limits of Austin).

Chicago’s Lollapalooza sowed fear in the hearts of many a few weeks ago when photos of the massif unmasked crowds started to appear on social networks during the 3-Celebration day. However, last week the The Chicago Department of Public Health has revealed that in the two weeks following the event, only 203 of the 385,000 participants tested positive for the coronavirus, with zero hospitalizations or deaths. SHP Commissioner Dr Allison Awdry said that more than 90 percent of festival attendees have been vaccinated, with proof of vaccine or a negative COVID-19 test required for entry.

Live Nation joins concert promoter Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), which requires vaccinations to attend events in states where it is legal. AEG Presents hosts some of the biggest music events in the United States, including Coachella, Firefly, Day N Vegas, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Their policy takes effect from October 1.
