Marvel’s First Reactions to ‘Shang-Chi’ Critics Call ‘Phenomenal’

Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings premiered in Los Angeles on Monday, finally inducting the titular hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe after repeated delays caused by the pandemic. If the first reactions are there, the wait was worth it.

Fixed after 2019 Avengers: Endgame, the film follows martial artist Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) as he grapples with his past and complicated family relationships – and kicks a ton of butt along the way. The first Marvel superhero film with an Asian lead role, Shang-Chi is eagerly awaited since the development was initially announced in late 2018.

First reactions to Shang-Chi are coming now, and it seems to have earned universal and gushing praise on every level. The overwhelming consensus is that Shang-Chi is a “phenomenal” film full of heart, humor and “breathtaking action” – and not just by Marvel standards.

It sounds exactly like the fun, action-packed blockbuster we could all be using right now. If you weren’t already excited for Shang-Chi, now would be a good time to start.
