Apple introduced an option to turn off night mode completely on an iPhone camera in iOS 15. While you have always been able to turn off night mode for a particular shot, the iPhone camera will also turn it back on. the next time it detects it. must be used. In iOS 15, you can now switch if the camera remembers that night mode has been turned off.
Night mode is often a useful way to capture great photos in low light conditions, but there are times when an iPhone activates this mode and you end up with a worse photo with the night mode on. If you prefer to have full control over your iPhone’s camera, 9to5Mac note that you can effectively turn off night mode in iOS 15:
- Go to settings
- Choose camera
- Choose conservator settings
- Switch the Night mode setting to on
This will allow your iPhone’s camera to turn off night mode if you turn it off for a shot. You can always turn Night Mode back on if you need to, but now it’s up to you to turn it on rather than the iPhone itself.
This isn’t the only camera improvement in iOS 15. Apple is also making subtle photo enhancements by addressing green highlights that can appear in outdoor photos. Both of these improvements are available in the latest public beta versions of iOS 15 and should appear to iPhone users once iOS 15 ships (likely next month).
