SPARTANBURG – The Panthers put Troy Pride Jr. on the injured list on Tuesday, as part of their effort to hit the 85-man limit.

Pride injured his right knee in Sunday’s opener in Indianapolis and had to be taken off the field.

The fourth round of 2020 had also been hampered by injuries throughout the offseason. He played 14 games last season, with eight starts. He had 41 tackles and two passes defended last year.

The Panthers also traded offensive tackle Greg Little to the Dolphins, in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2022 (the Dolphins’ first seventh round). Little, their second round of 2019, had fallen into the depth chart here, and there was no guarantee he was making the list anyway.

The Panthers also freed veteran fullback Rod Smith, abandoned / injured center Mike Panasiuk and abandoned / injured linebacker Nate Hall.

The Panthers must reduce the roster to 80 by next Tuesday, before the 53rd Cup Finals are slated for August 31.
