Las Vegas reportedly told WWE they needed a shorter SummerSlam

WWE is bringing SummerSlam to fans this weekend, but the biggest party of the summer might be a little shorter than usual. They have a loaded card, but some of those matches will likely be a bit short so fans can leave the Allegiant Stadium in time to get to a big boxing match.

During Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez said he was briefed twice by sources within WWE. A staff member apparently told Alvarez that Las Vegas told WWE they had to complete their big event by 11:00 p.m. EST. SummerSlam begins at 8:00 p.m. EST with a launch show starting an hour earlier.

The general idea is that WWE will end the show around 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. EST, as Manny Pacquiao’s return to boxing is actually the hottest ticket in town that night.

“I had two different sources tell me at a different time that the show was going to stop airing. I had one that insisted the show was going to end at 8:30 am, but I’ve been told and been told for a while that the city of Vegas wants the show to end at 8:00 am Pacific, 11:00 am Eastern, so people can go out and go to the boxing event.

Manny Pacquiao’s return to boxing is a big deal, and many fans will want to attend this event. SummerSlam will apparently be over in time for this big fight, which means fans will be in a much shorter SummerSlam than usual.
