Turns out, people don’t like it when celebrities get special treatment.
Nicole Kidman traveled to Hong Kong last week to shoot the Amazon series Expatriates.
Hong Kong currently has strict isolation and quarantine rules due to the ongoing pandemic.
However, Nicole obtained a quarantine waiver from the authorities, which received a major backlash.
According to the South China Morning Post, the Bureau of Trade and Economic Development released a statement claiming that Nicole was “allowed to travel to Hong Kong with a quarantine exemption.”
They added that his filming work is “conducive to maintaining the necessary functioning and development of Hong Kong’s economy.”
As you might have guessed, some Hong Kong residents were less than happy with his special treatment.
Someone called BS to say they were helping keep Hong Kong’s economy going.
Another person compared other ongoing issues in Hong Kong with Nicole’s exemption.
This person seemed to be finding the bright side of the situation.
Nicole is still filming the series and has yet to deal with the backlash.
