Becky Lynch made her surprise return to WWE at Slam summer Saturday night, but “The Man” ended up being involved in the most controversial moment of the night. Halfway through the show, Bianca Belair arrived for her SmackDown Women’s Championship match with Sasha Banks, only for WWE to announce that “The Boss” was unable to compete at the last minute. Carmella was initially knocked down as a replacement, only for “The Man” to arrive and quickly get her out of the ring. She then challenged Belair in an impromptu title match, caught her with a punch, and hit a quick Manhandle Slam for the win.

Fans were instantly enraged at the situation given Belair’s weakness, but now it appears that backlash was part of WWE’s plan. According to PWInsiderMike Johnson, Lynch will position himself as a heel on the SmackDown brand and continue his rivalry with Belair.

WWE first tried to return Lynch’s heel in 2018 when it first introduced the character of ‘The Man,’ but that was quickly put to one side as fans continued to embrace the news. Lynch’s attitude. But by the final day, fans were already speculating that Lynch turned out given the way she interacted with fans after beating Belair.

Lynch also kept her post-match interview insanely brief, telling Kayla Braxton backstage, “The man is back, and it feels good.” Do you think trying to turn the Lynch heel again is a good idea? Let us know in the comments below and check out Saturday’s full results. Slam summer in the list below!
