A Florida woman has been arrested after allegedly throwing a caged cat into a river during a fight with her ex-boyfriend last week, authorities said.

Christa Thistle, 53, is accused of throwing the animal, which was in a crate, into a waterway at Riverwood Park Campground in Oak Hill on Thursday after arguing with her ex over the fact that he was not getting out of their campervan quickly enough, the Volusia County sheriff’s office said on Facebook.

Christa Thistle has been charged with animal cruelty and common assault after allegedly throwing her ex-boyfriend's cat, Stanley, into a Florida river.
