Virginia Democratic candidate for governor Terry McAuliffe received another big donation from unions after he reversed his stance on right to work legislation in the state.
The Virginia Public Access Project reported last week that its governors campaign won $ 500,000 from the International Union of Workers of North America (LIUNA). Fox News previously reported on the $ 2 million influential unions gave to his campaign after announcing he would sign the repeal of the state’s right to work policy.
Right to work laws guarantee an employee’s right to refuse to join a union and prevent union dues from being a condition of employment. More than two dozen states, including Virginia, have right to work laws in place, and unions and progressive groups continually seek to overturn the laws.
The recent donation comes from an organization that vehemently opposed right to work legislation. The LIUNA website refers to the “so-called right to work” as forcing “unions to represent workers who do not pay dues”.

LIUNA is made up of 400 local unions and more than 500,000 members, according to its website.
Its members also protested against the right to work in Illinois. And earlier this summer, LIUNA’s Twitter account said “#RighttoWorkisWRONG”.
McAuliffe’s promise to repeal the right to work has been met with skepticism. McAuliffe previously said: “We are a great state of the law at work. We should never change that.” Politifact mentioned McAliffe’s remark while calling his former opponent Ken Cuccinelli’s claim that he opposed the right to work false.

When McAuliffe pledged to repeal the right to work, he said it would not pass the state legislature.
“I’ve always said I’m going to focus on the things I can actually do,” McAuliffe told a reporter who asked about an invoice reaching his desk.
McAuliffe’s campaign did not respond to Fox News’ request for comment. LIUNA either.
