Netflix reveals premiere date and live footage of Cowboy Bebop series

Netflix has announcement as its live-action adaptation of the influential and popular classic animated series Cowboy Bebop will be released on Friday, November 19.

The pictures show actor John Cho (Star Trek, Harold and Kumar go to the white castle) as the main character of the series, Spike Spiegel. The series will also star Alex Hassell (Suburb), Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and Mustafa Shakir (Luke Cage), among others.

André Nemec will be the showrunner of the series. He previously worked as a screenwriter and producer on science fiction television series A.k.a and zoo, plus the 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. The director of the original animated series, Shinichirō Watanabe, is a consultant for the new series. Sheet music composer Yoko Kanno is also returning from the anime.

Cowboy Bebop originally premiered in 1998. This is a space western about a group of bounty hunters on a spaceship called the Bebop. It gained critical acclaim and became a cult hit in part thanks to its striking visual style and strong thematic elements.

This live adaptation of Cowboy Bebop was first announced almost three years ago, but its journey to completion has been difficult.
