(CNN) – The Bahamas and Morocco are now among the highest-risk destinations for travelers, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s regularly revised list of travel advisories.
People should avoid going to places designated with the “Very High Level 4: Covid-19” notice, the CDC recommends. Anyone who needs to travel should first be fully vaccinated, the agency advises.

CDC’s evolving list of travel advisories ranges from Level 1 (“low”) to Level 4 (“very high”).
Destinations that fall under the Level 4 “Very High Covid-19” category have recorded more than 500 cases per 100,000 population in the past 28 days, according to CDC criteria. The level 3 category applies to destinations that have recorded between 100 and 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 28 days.
The six destinations newly added to level 4 were previously classified as “level 3: Covid-19 high”.
The Prime Minister of the Bahamas implemented a pandemic curfew on Saturday, August 21, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the mainland of Exuma, Abaco and the Abaco Cays, as well as northern, central and south of Andros. In the aftermath of the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that hit southwestern Haiti on August 14, the country’s prime minister reminded citizens to be aware of the risk of Covid-19 during recovery efforts.
New “Level 3” destinations
Ten other destinations moved to the “Level 3: Covid-19 High” category on Monday. Albania, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Brunei and Liechtenstein have moved from the first level. Bulgaria and Serbia moved from level two. Greenland and Guernsey have gone from “level unknown”. And Paraguay went from level four.
CDC guidelines for level 3 destinations urge unvaccinated travelers to avoid non-essential travel to these locations.
In its broader travel guidelines, the CDC recommended avoiding all international travel until you are fully immunized.
“Fully vaccinated travelers are less likely to contract and spread Covid-19. However, international travel poses additional risks, and even fully vaccinated travelers may be at increased risk of contracting and possibly spreading certain variants of Covid-19. “the agency said.
