Mobile payment apps are very popular these days, but no one really wants to set up a separate service to manage their money. WhatsApp has slowly extended its own built-in payment functionality over the past year or so, and with the release of its latest beta for Android, it’s even easier for users to access.

As WABetaInfo discovered, a new shortcut for sending payments to friends and family is currently being tested. In older versions of WhatsApp, you had to view the action sheet in a discussion thread to send a payment. With WhatsApp for Android version 2.21.17, a new shortcut for sending payments just appears online with the chat bar.

Currently, this button is available for users in India, one of the two regions where the app supports mobile payments. Users in Brazil can also have access to this feature, although the proof has not yet emerged. Unfortunately, other locations do not yet support payments, which means this shortcut will not be of use to them. Since Facebook Pay and its similar rivals currently have a much broader reach, WhatsApp will hopefully continue to expand its implementation over the coming months.

If you are in either region and want to check out this feature, make sure you are part of the beta program through the Play Store link below or download the latest APK from APK Mirror.
