The Jonas Brothers’ new vaccine and COVID testing requirement for their upcoming tour is causing a stir at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel ahead of their scheduled 9/11 show.
The trio announced Monday that starting August 27, they will require proof of COVID vaccination or a negative test within 72 hours of the event to attend all of their shows.
But that comes up against Mystic Lake’s own COVID policies, which do not require such proof to attend a concert on its property. He also lifted his indoor mask requirement.
The casino tweeted about it on Tuesday: “We are aware of the Jonas Brothers social media statement requiring proof of a negative COVID-19 test result or vaccine to attend all of their shows. tour after 08/27.
“These requirements do not match our current protocols, developed under the direction of SMSC (Shakopee-Mdewakanton Sioux Community) Tribal Public Health.”
The casino also said further updates regarding the show will be posted at a later date on its social media or website.
The tweets sparked a quick backlash from those suggesting Mystic Lake should change its policies to comply with the Jonas Brothers concert stipulation.
About an hour after tweeting the statement, Mystic Lake limited the ability of other users to respond.
The Jonas Brothers, which includes the immunocompromised Nick Jonas (who has type 1 diabetes), said that requiring vaccines or proof of a negative test is “the best thing we can do for our fans, our team. who works hard and the communities we are in. visit.”
