Ford Motor Co. says it is delaying the return of its employees to the office until at least January, and the automaker will not rule out the possibility of requiring more workers to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

EMPLOYEE EYES BACK TO WORK; HEALTH, CAREER PROMOTIONS AMONG THE MAIN CONCERNS
Ford’s head of human resources and employee experience, Kiersten Robinson, told Reuters the company is still considering issuing a vaccine requirement for employees. The company already requires its employees who travel abroad to get the jab, but the extension of the requirement to other workers is still pending.
“We want to understand the sentiment of the employees,” Robinson told the outlet. “What is standing [in] how they get vaccinated voluntarily. After noting that workers’ views and access to vaccines vary around the world, she added, “It’s simplistic to have a single mandate for all. “
The company also announced that it “will offer non-dependent site employees the ability to work remotely up to [to] 30 days per year from any location of their choice in their country of employment “as part of its hybrid work model.

Ford is joining Amazon and Apple in delaying the return of its office until January amid rising coronavirus cases following the emergence of the Delta variant. A host of other companies, including Google and McDonald’s, have delayed returning to their offices until October.
