Jurassic World: Dominion happens next year.

Anyone lucky enough to see F9 in Imax earlier this year saw the first images of next year Jurassic World: Dominion. The film opens 65 million years ago when a certain mosquito gets caught up in amber, setting up everything to follow. What happened next was five movies, and it’s not over, and this sixth brings them all together. At CinemaCon 2021, Universal Pictures wrapped up its packed panel with all-new footage from the upcoming film, which opens on June 10, 2022. And while this IMAX preview got a quick glimpse of what’s going on in the world of Jurassic Publish-Fallen kingdom, this sequence went even further.

Now here is where I offer a bit of warning. The footage lasted probably 90 seconds and it would be next to impossible to tell you everything that happened in front of my eyes. I’ll give you the highlights as best I can but, suffice to say it was cut quickly and I missed a lot. My excuses.

The first image was of a pair of brachiosaurs being led by a group of vehicles in what looked like a snowy quarry. Later, still in this snowy setting, Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) rides a motorbike trying to hunt dinosaurs. There are scenes of Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) trapped in a cage reminiscent of the one at the start of the first film. Water is pouring in. There was also a photo of her in a very sunny, well-lit laboratory. The mosasaurus of Jurassic World jump out of the water to eat something. A dilophosaurus screams and releases its mane. The T-Rex is seen lashing out, of course. We see someone holding a rocket. A triceratops crashing into a Jeep. Shots of Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), then shots of all stars of both shows watching something, reminiscent of the lighting of the T-Rex attack in first film.

Most interesting, however, were a few scenes in what looked like a European city. We see Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) leap between buildings as she is chased by what looked like a velociraptor. A scene of Claire and Owen Grady jumping in an ancient grave. And then a shot of Grady, again on a motorbike, driving down cobbled streets, chasing what, again, was probably a raptor. Basically it looked like action scenes from Indiana Jones, Jason Bourne, and James Bond, but with dinosaurs.

Really wish I could have recorded it with my eyes to give you every detail, but alas it’s the best I can do. But there was more, a lot more, and I think we’ll see a lot of them in the coming months. As part of the video, film director Colin Trevorrow said the film would answer the question: if dinosaurs were among us, would we be safe? Of course, the answer is no. But I hope we’re all safe enough to see what has in store for us next summer, when Dominion of the Jurassic World released in theaters.
