Mike Richards, the Danger! executive producer who treated himself to a top-notch hosting gig, then immediately lost it once everyone realizes he was a jerk, he will remain the boss of the game show, The New York Times reports. Many observers expected Richards to strike an exit deal with Danger!the production company of Sony Pictures Television.

Danger! has needed a host for almost a year, following the tragic death of beloved host Alex Trebek, who died of pancreatic cancer last November. Executives tried out a variety of prominent guest hosts, including actor Levar Burton, heir to the railway empire Anderson Cooper, and Danger! Hall of Fame member Ken Jennings.

Richard complaints he recused himself from the selection process. But, as the New York Times noted, in his capacity as executive producer of the show, that he was instrumental in selecting the potential host sequences that ended up in front of the focus group audiences.

On August 11, Sony announcement that Richards would become the show’s permanent host. Corn August 18 Alarm report resurfaces seriously rude behavior from his past. On his podcast, The Random Show, Richards has made sexist, racist, classist and anti-Semitic statements. He is also named in two anti-discrimination lawsuits of his time as executive producer of The price is right. In one case, like the Times reports, Richards balked “when a model he hired for the show revealed she was pregnant with twins.”

Last Friday, Richards has officially resigned as host of the show. Given the nature of his precedents and how quickly he dropped the hosting gig, Hollywood insiders expected Richards to negotiate some sort of exit (probably with a lot of $$$) from the spectacle. But, as Ravi Ahuja, director of Sony TV would have said, Danger! staff in a call to all this week, he will remain as executive producer. He will now report to Suzanne Prete, a longtime director of commercial and legal affairs at Sony. Prete is also responsible for overseeing the financial transactions of the show. Sony says Prete’s new role was determined before all recent affairs.

According to Times, Richards will undergo sensitivity training.

In the meantime, Danger! appealed to the old The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik, who was previously selected to host the show’s prime-time specials, as temporary host. She’s, uh, not that great either.
