Batwoman chose an actress familiar to The CW fans as Poison Ivy.

Bridget Regan – who played Rose on Joan the Virgin for five seasons – will play Pamela Isley / Poison Ivy in the superhero series.

The CW’s update of the classic DC villain is described as a former Gotham University botany student who became “a passionate and brilliant scientist with a mind to change the world for the better.” But her plans changed when she was experimented with by a coworker, who was injected with various plant toxins that turned her into the infamous Batman villain: Poison Ivy. With tremendous power running through her veins, Pamela used her powers to do what she thought was right… even though Batman and those close to him disagreed with his dangerous methods. Now erased from the board for years, Batwoman and Team Bat must prepare for Poison Ivy’s return with vengeance.

This isn’t the first time Regan has been on a superhero project – she’s also played the original black widow, Dottie, in Marvel’s Agent Carter series. She also played key roles in The last boat, Legend of the researcher, and White collar. It is replaced by Gasparro Management and UTA.

Batwoman returns on October 13.
