The billionaire owner of a Massachusetts-based private equity firm has found himself plunged into a vast scandal related to prostitution, which has already trapped the owner of the New England Patriots, Robert Kraft, and the Former Citigroup executive, John Havens.
John Childs, the 77-year-old founder of J.W. Childs Associates, has been charged with soliciting prostitution, according to the Vero Beach Police Department in Florida.
Childs is one of 173 people charged with a large criminal investigation lasting six months on several massage parlors in several Florida jurisdictions.
Friday afternoon, Childs had not been arrested. He told Bloomberg News in an interview that he had not even been contacted by the police.
"The charge of soliciting prostitution is totally false," he said. "I retained the services of a lawyer."

Childs is a major Republican donor who has supported GOP candidates in the past, such as presidential candidate Mitt Romney in 2012 and former House Speaker Paul Ryan, according to opensecrets.org.
He has an estimated net worth of $ 1.2 billion and donated $ 4.3 million over the last election cycle, according to TCPalm.
The financial records of the campaign show that Childs gave $ 250,000 to America First Action, a superPAC that supports President Donald Trump.
He also donated large sums of money to the conservative superPAC of the Club for Growth Action, the Conservative Senate Action Plan and the America Rising PAC.
He also supported Republicans like Florida Senator Rick Scott, Montana Senator Steve Daines and Indiana Sen. Mike Braun.
According to a J.W. Biography of Childs Associates, Childs founded the company in 1995 after holding senior positions with Thomas H. Lee and Prudential Insurance Company.
He is a graduate of Yale University and Columbia University.
