A photo taken (probably in Barcelona where the CMM takes place) goes around on Twitter featuring a construction team installing a display panel for the Mate X. As you can see, this will be Huawei's first collapsible phone.
Samsung has just seduced us with its announcement of the Galaxy Fold of February 20, but the way the Mate X folds seems to be different. Rather than having an external screen and then a larger screen that you can access by flipping out like the Galaxy Fold does, the Mate X seems to have a single panel that serves both as an external display and as a screen. Internal screen. This means that the outside screen is a lot larger than the Galaxy Fold offers, but it also results in many screens being constantly exposed to potential scratches and cracks.
With a picture of the Mate X, we can also see a promotional text that seems to claim it as the "world's first folding 5G phone". Samsung will release a 5G version of the Galaxy Fold at some point, but that could mean that Huawei will be first on the market.
