ANAHEIM, Calif .– Aaron Judge hit his 30th homerun in Wednesday night’s 4-1 win over the Angels and starts the final month of the season as good as it has been all year.
This is in part due to being able to stay healthy, apart from a stint on COVID-19 IL.
“There is still a lot of work to be done,” said the judge of his production on the plate.
He thanked his teammates for coming to base to give him the opportunity to run errands, but admitted he was playing a little safer than in the past.
“The most important thing is not to run into too many walls and do stupid things that cause injury,” Judge said.
The Yankees would like that to remain the case, because they know what Judge can do when he’s active – and he’s reached base in 22 of his last 23 games and has had multiple hits in eight of his last nine.
Gerrit Cole said that the plate judge’s approach is “tried and true” and that he has the ability to pull out the strength of opposing pitchers with his ability to cover all home plate and hit all fields.
Aaron Boone put it more bluntly: “Let’s not think about it too much. He plays really well.
