Conclusion of contract negotiations between Bryce Harper and Phillies

Negotiations between the Philadelphia Phillies and Bryce Harper could be resolved on Tuesday, sources told ESPN's Buster Olney.

The Phillies remain confident in their willingness to sign Harper, but sources told Olney that the negotiations were taking place at a turning point.

If the Phillies reach an agreement with Harper, it would conclude a dead season in which Philadelphia would have landed two championship star players, Andrew McCutchen and Harper; as well as the player considered the best receiver of baseball, J.T. Realmuto; and the star lifter David Robertson.

Phillies' general partner, John Middleton, went to Las Vegas on Friday for meetings with Harper Camp, sources at Jeff Passan of ESPN have confirmed. These discussions continued on Saturday before Middleton left.

NBC Sports Philadelphia was the first to announce that a Phillies representative was in Las Vegas on Friday.

The Phillies also met Harper in January in Las Vegas. Other teams known to have met Harper this winter include the San Francisco Giants, the Chicago White Sox, the San Diego Padres, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Washington Nationals, with whom Harper spent the first seven seasons of her career.

Harper, 26, is looking for a contract of more than 10 years, $ 300 million that the nationals would have offered him at the end of the regular season. The left-handed offensive player only beat .249 in 2018, but he had 34 home runs and 100 RBIs. He went back after the All-Star break.

The Phillies finished 11th in the National League for points scored last season, and their right-handed squad could use a left-handed hitter.
