First look at Lin-Manuel Miranda in the trailer of "His Dark Materials"

The first trailer is for His Dark Materials, a new BBC television series starring Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The series is based on fantastic novels by Philip Pullman, a trilogy of Northern Lights (1995) (published as The Golden Compass in North America), The Subtle Knife (1997) and The Amber Spyglass (2000).

The screen adaptation is written by Harry Potter and playwright Cursed Child, Jack Thorne. Tom Hooper will lead the first two episodes.

Dark Materials follows a Lyra girl, played by Dafne Keen, who meets a truth device called alethiometer. Her adventures lead her to her uncle (James McAvoy), Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson) and the mysterious Dust. Miranda fulfills the role of aeronaut and adventurer Lee Scoresby who makes friends with Lyra.
