One person was killed and two others were injured after a small plane crashed into a home in central Florida on Saturday, officials said.
The accident occurred around 12:45 pm just south of Winter Haven Airport in Winter Haven.
Grady Judd, Polk County Sheriff, told FOX13 that 64-year-old instructor pilot James Wagner of Lakeland and 33-year-old student pilot Timothy Sheehy of Bozeman, Montana were on board when the plane took off from the airport of Winter Haven. The two men had to undergo simulated training in engine failures when the plane crashed.
"As tragic as it was for Mr. Wagner, it was a blessing for us today not to have an entire family shattered," Judd said Saturday. "It's an incredible set of circumstances – we certainly expected to find the worst."

Three people were inside the house at the time the plane crashed. According to FOX13, three children aged 2, 11 and 15 were playing in the garden when the plane fell.
Carmelle Ngalamulume, 17, was in one of the bedrooms and was trapped under the wreckage after the accident, according to Judd.
Three people were in the house, but only one was injured.

"We are shocked by the severity of his injuries," said the sheriff.
Judd stated that Carmelle's 20-year-old brother, Joel, was in an adjacent room and had tried to free her sister. The children's mother was taking a shower when the plane descended into the house. The teenage girl was rushed to hospital after being released.

Wagner's family said the pilot had more than 30 years of experience.
"He just had the kindest heart and he was patient and loving and he was not judgmental," said Luis FOX13, Wagner's son-in-law, Luis Nunez, "and he would help everyone." one who needed help or an attentive ear, he was there.

The FAA and the Polk County Sheriff's Office are investigating the accident, and representatives of the National Transportation Safety Board are expected to visit the scene of the crash Sunday as part of the investigation.
