New Polestar 2 Versions Make Public Debut Alongside EU Prices

Polestar has shared new versions of its Polestar 2 sedan with audiences in Europe along with pricing ahead of deliveries start this month. The enlarged Polestar 2 now comes with three powertrain variants on display at IAA Mobility in Munich this week.

Polestar is a premium Swedish automotive brand focused on electric vehicles. The brand was launched in 2017 as the child of an “independent” company co-owned by Volvo Cars Group and Geely Holding. It currently offers two electrified vehicles: the PHEV Polestar 1 and the all-electric Polestar 2.

As the third upcoming model, Polestar gave the green light to its Precept EV concept for full production and documented the entire process for consumers. As a small forward-thinking electric vehicle brand, Polestar recently publicly shared its carbon impact data to boost the confidence of its global customer base.

In building that trust with the public, Polestar expressed its goal of doubling its global presence in the retail and marketplace by the end of 2021. At IAA Mobility this week, the company spelled out those goals for expand to 30 global markets by the end. from 2022.

In addition to announcing its continued expansion to IAA attendees in Munich, Polestar shared European prices for its Polestar 2 sedan. These prices coincide with additional new powertrain variants announced by Polestar earlier this year.

Polestar 2 prices revealed for Europe ahead of deliveries

In a press release following its reveal to the European public in Munich, Polestar shared prices for its Polestar 2, which now offers three different powertrain options.

The latest models of Polestar 2 will start shipping to customers in Europe from the end of the month and will start at a price of 45,500 euros. Despite the new powertrains, upcoming Polestar 2 EVs will continue to feature vegan upholstery, Android infotainment systems with built-in Google, and strong OTA update capabilities.

A new addition to the Polestar 2 models is an optional heat pump upgrade. The heat pump uses ambient heat and residual thermal energy from the transmission to precondition the battery pack and maintain cabin temperature. It can help to increase battery life and maintain its longevity.

The heat pump is available as part of the new Plus Pack add-on, alongside a full-length panoramic glass roof, a premium Harman Kardon audio system and many other luxury features.

In addition to the Plus Pack, the Swedish automaker has shared two additional packs available on the Polestar 2 – The Driver Pack includes enhanced driver safety and awareness assistance alerts, in addition to LED headlights.

The previously existing Performance Pack also remains available at additional prices on the Polestar 2, providing Brembo brakes, 20-inch alloy rims and iconic ‘Swedish Gold’ details. The Performance Pack is only available on the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor.

Now that pricing has been revealed for Europe, the first customers are expected to see deliveries this month. We do not yet know the prices or delivery times for the US market, although we have contacted Polestar for details.
