MONSIEUR – The mayor of Blasio has tried to show his full presidential strength by crossing near-blizzard areas in Iowa.
Journalists in New York wisely decided to wait for a snowstorm in Sioux City after an event during which Blasio presented his progressive program to about two dozen residents Saturday night.
But the mayor ignored bad weather and insisted on traveling south of Des Moines with his safety information.
Hizzoner did less than half of his time before quitting in Onowa, Iowa – an estimated population of 2,849 – to sleep in a Super 8 Motel, sources said.
And instead of tasting some of Hawkeye State's award-winning steaks or grilled steaks, he had to settle for a microwave burrito.
De Blasio finally arrived at Des Moines around 9:30 am Sunday, where he visited the Smokey Row Coffee Coffee Co. and held a round table with Mayor Frank Cownie, Councilman Chris Coleman and others.
He then had breakfast in a booth at Drake Diner, where former governor Tom Vilsack – who had already eaten – sat with his hands crossed on the table.
De Blasio wraps up a two-day visit to Iowa, where caucus members won first votes for presidential candidates.
De Blasio has not yet announced whether he will join the increasingly populous Democrats who want to face President Trump in 2020.
