Tom Brady expressed outrage this week over the NFL rule change allowing players to change their single-digit jersey numbers as his Tampa Bay Buccaneers prepare to play against the Dallas Cowboys.
The NFL has broadened the rules for jersey numbers this season, allowing running backs, tight ends, full-backs and wide receivers to wear jersey numbers 1-49 and 80-89. Defensive backs will be allowed to wear numbers 1-49, linebackers 1-59 and 90-99, offensive linemen 50-79, and defensive linemen 50-59 and 90-99. There has been no change for quarterbacks, kickers and bettors.

Brady called the numbers rule “crazy” in an interview with the Tampa Bay Times and sounded pessimistic about how the team was going to plan the game against Dallas. He said the same in April in an Instagram post, calling the rule change “bad for football.”
The Cowboys have asked a few players to change numbers before the start of the 2021 season.

Donovan Wilson will wear No.6, Trevon Diggs will wear No.7, Jaylon Smith will wear No.9, rookie Micah Parsons will wear No.11 and Damontae Kazee will wear No.18.
Brady has never lost to the Cowboys. He threw for 1,354 passing yards and 10 touchdowns against them. He ended his 2020 season on a captivating note, throwing several touchdown passes during the team’s blowout against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
