Authorities in South Carolina released a four-sentence incident report into the alleged Saturday shooting of attorney Alex Murdaugh, whose wife and son were shot dead in an unsolved double murder in June.

Hampton County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shooting on Old Salkehatchie Highway in Varnville. They arrived before Murdaugh, who had been shot in the head, was airlifted from a landing site on the Charleston Highway to the hospital and secured the scene for investigators from their department and division. An initial report included a checked box stating Murdaugh was found with no visible injuries, but Sheriff Thomas “TC” Smalls told Fox News that this was a mistake and the report has been updated.

The updated report indicates a “major injury”. Authorities have said separately that he was treated for a “superficial gunshot wound to the head”.

In the updated report, authorities also subtly changed the boxes for alcohol and drug use from “no” to “unknown” in both categories.

The report did not mention a suspect or a vehicle. He indicates that one of the MPs met Murdaugh before the airlift, but does not include any details of their conversation.

“Further investigation is required,” the report concludes.

MURDAUGH DOUBLE MURDERS: THE ATTORNEY WITHDRAWALS FROM THE CASE

The Murdaughs, prominent in the region through their practice of law and decades of control over the local prosecutor’s office, have gained national attention following the unsolved gunshot deaths of Paul and Maggie Murdaugh, 22 and 52 years, June 7.
