Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is being revamped for modern consoles. It will arrive on PlayStation 5 as a console exclusive at launch, with more consoles being revealed at a later date.
Aspyr will be handling the development of the new remaster again, building on their previous efforts with Republic Commando and Jedi Outcast. The trailer shown on today’s PlayStation Showcase showed Darth Revan lighting his lightsaber with an ominous voiceover.
Knights of the Old Republic is consistently ranked as one of the best RPGs ever made and is at the top of our list of the ten best Star Wars games. Originally developed by BioWare, KOTOR helped usher in a new era of console PC RPGs. Its announcement at Sony’s PlayStation Showcase is somewhat ironic considering it was a top Xbox exclusive at the time.
Knights of the Old Republic was first reported in development in April by multiple outlets. Its announcement is part of Sony’s PlayStation storefront and is confirmed to be early in development.
KOTOR does not yet have a release date.
