Colts injury report: CB Rhodes continues to miss training

The Indianapolis Colts today released its Thursday injury report for Week 1 of the NFL season ahead of their Sunday game.

LG Quenton Nelson returned to training today with limited ability. Nelson missed yesterday’s practice with a back injury. The Colts have said they will slow down with Nelson as it is a continuing injury that flares up from time to time. It looks like Nelson’s back injury is slowly healing, but Nelson will have to see how his back reacts after today’s practice ahead of tomorrow’s practice and Sunday’s game.

CB Xavier Rhodes continued to miss training today. Rhodes is struggling with a calf injury that appears to be a new injury. Rhodes will have to practice tomorrow to some extent or the Colts could lose a starting cornerback to Russell Wilson and the Seahawks passing attack. If Rhodes can’t play on Sunday, the Colts could rely on TJ Carrie to replace Rhodes away.

WR Parris Campbell returned to full training today after being restricted on Wednesday. Campbell suffered from an Achilles tendon injury, but full training today is good news and a good step for Campbell to play on Sunday.

The LT Eric Fisher has remained limited today in practice. Fisher is training for the first time this week with the team in a bid to see if he can manage the training time before the team make a decision on their status for Sunday. The Colts will make a decision on Fisher after tomorrow’s practice and if he is unable to play then Julien Davenport will step in on the left tackle.

OL Danny Pinter remains limited to training today. Pinter is a key backup offensive lineman, especially with his flexibility in center and guard position. Pinter will hopefully be able to continue training and playing on Sunday.

DE Kemoko Turay missed training today with a groin injury. Turay was limited yesterday and after missing today’s practice he appears to have taken a step back with his injury. Hopefully Turay can practice tomorrow or he will miss Sunday’s game. The good news is that the Colts have a deep rotation at the defensive end with Kwity Paye. Tyquan Lewis, Al-Quadin Muhammad, Ben Banogu and Isaac Rochell who the Colts will lean on if Turay can’t play.

Quarterback Carson Wentz continues to train hard and it almost confirms that he will play against the Seahawks on Sunday.

TE Jack Doyle missed practice today with a day off. Doyle had regular days off last year throughout the season, so it’s not uncommon for him.
