BLACKPINK’s Lisa has shared her thoughts on her highly anticipated solo debut!
On September 10, Lisa held an online press conference several hours before the release of her first solo mini album “LALISA”. During the lecture, the idol confessed that it took a long time for her to finally make her long-awaited solo debut.
“I continue to feel nervous and still can’t believe it,” Lisa said. Even when I was practicing the choreography I wasn’t sure this was actually happening, but when I filmed the clip it finally started to feel real.
“I am delighted to be able to show my first solo performance, and I hope BLINKs [BLACKPINK’s fans] I will examine it with kindness, ”she continued. “Because this is my first solo album, and also because the title of the album is my name ‘Lalisa’, that means a lot to me. Many thanks to BLINKs who have waited a long time for my solo debut. I worked hard to prepare myself.
As to why she chose to name her album “LALISA,” Lisa explained, “I wanted to show the coolest side of myself through [the album]. I wanted to show myself, Lalisa, exactly as I am, which is why I ended up using that title.
Describing her title song, also called ‘Lalisa’, Lisa said, “I think it’s a song that can really show the strength of my name and my confident side. I hope people will hear the song and think: “Wow, there it is. This is something only Lisa can do. The choreography is also easy to dance to, so I hope you have fun dancing to it.”
Lisa also mentioned that the song and its music video will include elements of her Thai heritage, explaining, “I wanted ‘Lalisa’ to have a Thai feel. The ensemble and outfits also capture that Thai vibe well.
“After I said I wanted to include a Thai vibe, Teddy arranged the song in a Thai style, and I was so touched,” she recalls. “I really liked the way it turned out. I was also wearing Thai clothes in the clip. I think the results are really pretty.
Lisa, who is famous for her already iconic bangs, later revealed that fans can expect to see a new side of her on the “LALISA” album cover.
“I wanted to show a new side of myself, so I first discovered my forehead while filming my album cover,” she said. “My fans have never seen me bare forehead before. Because I wanted to show something new, I made up my mind and finally discovered my forehead.
As for its B-side “Money,” Lisa commented, “It’s a hip hop song that anyone can enjoy. As soon as I heard it, I really wanted to. [be the one to] sing it.
Lisa also shared that her fellow BLACKPINK members spent hours with her on her music video to show their support.
“Jennie and Rosé both showed great things [with their solo debuts], so I worked hard to try and show good things too, ”Lisa said. “All the other members came to my music video set to cheer me on, and they stayed with me until the wee hours of the morning. I felt so comforted by their presence.
Lisa went on to explain how she missed seeing her fans in person. “It’s been so long since I’ve seen BLINKs that I sometimes look for videos of concerts where I was with fans,” she revealed. “I’m also making some fun content, so please wait for it.”
Finally, when asked what she hopes to achieve with her solo debut, Lisa said, “Rather than focusing on the rankings, I hope people will see that Lisa has that side to her as well. If I can make the BLINKs happy with my songs and my performances, I’m happy.
Lisa’s solo mini album “LALISA” will be released on September 10 at 1 p.m. KST, and she will perform her debut single “Lalisa” for the first time on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on September 10 ET (September 11 KST). Check out his teasers for the album here!
