Finally, the production version of the Tesla Model S Plaid (unmodified) on September 9, 2021 set a new production electric car record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife track (the 20.6 kilometer course) in Germany.
The best result of Plaid is 7 minutes and 30.909 seconds and an average speed of 166.320 km / h (103 mph). The other time fixed today is 7: 35.579.

“Tesla Model S Plaid just set the official world speed record for a production electric car at the Nürburgring. Completely unmodified, direct from the factory.”

The previous record for production electric cars – 7 minutes and 42 seconds – belongs to the Porsche Taycan Turbo. It was set in August 2019.
Tesla’s huge achievement has its roots in 2019 when a prototype of the Plaid reportedly recorded a time of 7 minutes and 13 seconds.
More recently, one of the Plaid cars crashed into the Nürburgring Nordschleife, indicating that the cars were being pushed to their limits.
There are still conventional production models that are faster, but not that much: four-seater Mercedes-AMG GT63 S (7: 27.800) and two-seater Jaguar XE SV Project 8 (7: 23.164), according to Drive. Elon Musk notes that the Tesla Model S Plaid was completely unmodified, including the tires.
Soon we’ll probably see a better time if someone changes the car – aerodynamics, brakes, tires and the like.
“Next up will be a modified Plaid with added aero surfaces, carbon brakes and track tires (all things that can be done without Tesla in the loop)”
