Biden announced Thursday that he would require all private companies with more than 100 employees to have their employees receive the coronavirus vaccine or get tested weekly.

“I fully support the continued efforts to increase immunization rates across our country, but federal government mandates on private business are not the right answer,” Hutchinson said in a statement.

Hutchinson traveled to Arkansas to promote the coronavirus vaccine, as the delta variant has significantly affected the state whose vaccination rates remain low.

Hutchinson, unlike some other Republican governors, has allowed employers to implement vaccination and mask mandates in their businesses if they deem it necessary.

“I have been consistent in the freedom of companies to require their employees to be vaccinated, and I have objected to the government saying that companies cannot exercise that freedom,” Hutchinson said.

“The same principle should protect the private sector from government excesses which force it to vaccinate all employees,” he added.

Biden received an immediate reaction after revealing his plan to force vaccines on private employers, with several republican governors saying they will take the warrant to court.
