The clue was in the trailer, but Sony has a blue hand all over Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake. While production is being led by a “newly formed team of industry veterans at developer and publisher Aspyr,” the Japanese giant will release the release on PlayStation 5 and collaborate with the company on development.

“Almost 20 years after its debut, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remains one of the most requested remakes by the PlayStation community,” said Eric Lempel, PlayStation Marketing Manager. “The time has finally come to bring this dream to life for die-hard fans and those who haven’t yet lived it.”

Although it will be released exclusively on console – suggesting that it will be rolled out elsewhere at a later date – it is the latest example of the Japanese giant silver hat projects that it says will bring value to its ecosystem of consoles. With Microsoft buying Bethesda, and thus having a stranglehold on the WRPGs, this particular version could prove to be a wise investment on the part of the Japanese giant.
