Sonos speakers are about to get more expensive

If you’ve been hesitant to buy a Sonos speaker because it’s too expensive, bad news – it’s about to get more expensive. Starting September 12, Sonos is increasing the prices of almost all of its products.

Technically, it doesn’t come out of nowhere. In her earnings call last month, Sonos chief financial officer Brittany Bagley confirmed that a price hike was being considered.

“We always evaluate our prices based not only on cost, but also on our situation from a supply and demand perspective,” Bagley said. On call. “And when we look at all of these factors, we will be raising some prices before our next fiscal year.”

This seems to indicate that the global chip shortage and supply chain issues have finally hit Sonos. Not all Sonos speakers will see a price increase. The Sonos Move, Port and Boost will remain at their current prices, as will Sonos Ikea Symphony Speakers. The new Sonos Roam will see the smallest increase, a $ 10 jump from $ 169 to $ 179. The Sonos One and One SL will both cost an additional $ 20 at $ 219 and $ 199, respectively. The Sonos Five, Sub, and Amp will cost $ 50 more each. This brings the new prices to $ 549 for the Five, $ 749 for the Sub, and $ 699 for the Amp. The greatest hike, however, is for the Arch of Sonos. The Dolby Atmos soundbar will now cost an additional $ 100 at $ 899.

Some of these price hikes are relatively minor, while others are a bit harder to swallow. In particular, the prices of home theater speakers from Sonos seem to have been the hardest hit. It makes sense: More and more people have invested in home theater gadgets thanks to the pandemic. However, home theater facilities have always been expensive, and making them even more expensive is a tough pill to swallow. This is especially true when you consider that Dolby Atmos – the Sonos Arc’s big selling point – is being added to a growing number of affordable soundbars.
